postpartum doula

What is a Postpartum Doula?

A Postpartum doula provides guidance to new parents on important subjects like infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, mother & baby bonding, infant soothing, and basic newborn care. The primary purpose of the Postpartum Doula is to help the mother and the entire family transition into life with a newborn. The role of a Postpartum Doula is one of instructional assistance - teaching and empowering the new mother and family members while lending a hand with some tasks in order to keep them from getting overwhelmed and to ensure a smooth transition for the family.
